Description | To introduce the main themes and topics in the study of Shariah from a bird's eye view, making use of both traditional and modern perspectives while including western scholarship. Important topics covered and offered in this program include history and origins, sources and literature, methodologies and scope, institutions and popular movements, impact of society and politics, as well as modern development. At the end of the course, students are expected to explain and apply the knowledge and skills acquired in studies of the Shariah at the advanced stage. |

Entry Requirements | The minimum qualifications for admission to an academic program are as follows: i. A Bachelor's Degree in Shariah/Islamic Studies or in any related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or its equivalent qualifications as accepted by the Senate; Or ii. A Bachelor's Degree in Shariah/Islamic Studies or in any related field with a CGPA between 2.50-2.74 may be accepted, subject to a special assessment by the Faculty; Or iii. A Bachelor's Degree in Shariah/Islamic Studies or in any related field with a CGPA between 2.00-2.49 may be accepted, subject to the following criteria: A. Have at least five (5) years of work experience in a related field; B. Pass a special assessment by the Faculty. Or iv. Candidates who do not have a Bachelor's Degree in Shariah/ Islamic Studies or in any related field or do not have work experience in a related field MUST ATTEND and PASS the prerequisite course prescribed by Faculty and achieve a minimum CGPA subject to (i) to (iii). |
English Requirement | (1) International candidate who writes thesis/dissertation In English – Entry Requirements Applicants are required to submit an IELTS (Academic) qualification of at least band 5.5 or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 before registration (2) International candidate who writes thesis/dissertation in Bahasa Malaysia/Arabic (other than English) – Graduation Requirements Applicants are required to submit an IELTS (Academic) qualification of at least band 4.0 or TOEFL with a minimum score of 400 before conferment. |
