Description | The Institute for Climate Change Research (IPI) offers Master of Science and PhD in multidisciplinary fields from four research institutes, namely the Climate Change Research Institute (Institut Kajian Perubahan Iklim), Space Science Centre (ANGKASA), Earth Observation Centre (EOC) and Centre for Tropical Climate Change System (IKLIM). Through climate change research, students can master the methods needed to understand the climate change system and reduce its impact on the economy and ecosystem. Space science research provides a focus on solar-terrestrial interactions (eg (eg, magnetic reconnections, solar flares, geomagnetic storms, and ionospheric storms), and the tools needed for weather and earthquake forecasting. Our research programs have strong collaborations with government agencies as well as local and international institutions. |

Entry Requirements | Master's Degree from a University or any higher learning institution recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or has accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Body, or an institution that has accreditation as specified by a program; or other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree or have other qualifications with experience recognized by the Senate; or students who are currently pursuing a master's program under subregulation 6(a) full-time at the University and are approved by the Faculty/Institute Graduate Studies Committee to change status to a doctoral program with the approval of the Dean/Director; or Bachelor's Degree with excellent results from a University or any higher learning institution subject to the Faculty/Institute's regulations and recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or has accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Body; or other qualifications recognized by the Senate obtained through Accreditation of Prior Experience-based Learning (APPT); or meet other requirements set by the program (if applicable); and meet the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) |
English Requirement | . International candidates are required to meet the following English proficiency requirements: a) Obtain TOEFL (550), IELTS (6) or MUET (4) results that meet the minimum score or band requirements set by the program; or b) For certain programs, candidates are required to sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he fails to reach the level determined by the program, the candidate is required to take and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) within a maximum period of two (2) semesters before he is allowed to register for the study program. Candidates must register as Non-Graduate Students. 2. The Faculty/Institute may grant exemptions to the conditions specified in subregulation (1) for international candidates who: a) will write a thesis / dissertation in Malay / Arabic; b) have academic qualifications obtained from any local university recognized by the Senate; or c) come from a country where English is the official language or the candidate has academic qualifications obtained from any higher education institution that uses English as the medium of instruction. Candidates may be exempted from the conditions stated in subregulation (2), but candidates must sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if the candidate fails to obtain the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM). |
