Description | Our Programme is a research-based degree that has two key components: coursework and thesis. Before undertaking research, students are required to pass two compulsory pre-requisite courses of 8 credits where they will acquire necessary research skills to undertake independent research. Pre-requisite Courses (8 credits): Research Methodology Academic Writing Research students are strongly encouraged to attend specialist research training and seminars focusing on various aspects of the research process, such as developing a research proposal and statement of a research problem, writing a literature review, developing research instruments/instrumentation, identifying population and sample, conducting data collection, analysing qualitative and quantitative data, etc. |

Entry Requirements | ADMISSION CRITERIA Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme under UUM COB must possess: a) a master's degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate. For a master's degree with CGPA, the minimum CGPA is e) 3.00; or b) a bachelor's degree with CGPA of at least 3.67/First Class or equivalent from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the University Senate and pass an interview by the Postgraduate Committee, or c) candidates without a qualification in the related fields or work experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the programine and meet the minimum CGPA based on (a) to (b); or d) any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the University Senate, or e) a bachelor's degree candidate who is registered for master's degree programmes via research mode may apply to convert to the Doctor of Philosophy programme subject to the following conditions and the Senate approval: 1. The candidate with a minimum of CGPA 3.00 to 3.66 bachelor's degree and published at least one (1) indexed journal article in Web of Science/SCOPLUS ii. The candidate must obtain a strong recommendation from the supervisor. m. The application is to be submitted in the second trimester of studies or within 12 months for a full-time Here candidate and within 24 months for a part-time candidate from the registration date of the study programme. iv. The application can be submitted ONCE only throughout the candidature g) Other requirements: 1. Should attach a motivational letter and research proposal. ii. Must propose supervisors' names who have already agreed with the research topic Those who are short-fisted will be called for an interview session. |
