| Description | The Department of Physics has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 1959. The academic staff members are actively involved in many areas of physics research. The strength of the Department lies in the areas of solid state physics, plasma physics, applied radiation, laser physics, photonics, solid state ionic, advanced materials, polymer physics, space physics as well as theoretical physics. Currently, 14% of our academic staffs are foreigners adding to the inherent cultural diversity of our multiethnic local staff - this enriches the learning experience of the students. Our academics and researchers conduct internationally relevant and competitive research, collaborate with the industry contributing to the advancement of the knowledge economy. Their scientific work is inter-connected with innovative teaching techniques, providing a creative and stimulating environment for educating the next generation of physicists. |
