Entry Requirements | Candidates seeking admission to a Doctoral program must possess the following qualifications: A Master's Degree from a University or any higher education institution recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or have accreditation recognized by foreign Accreditation Bodies, or institutions with accreditation as specified by a program; or Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree or possess other qualifications with experience recognized by the Senate; or Students currently enrolled in a master's program under subregulation 6(a) on a full-time basis at the University and recommended by the Faculty/Institute Graduate Studies Committee to change their status to a doctoral program with the approval of the Dean/Director; or A Bachelor's Degree with excellent results from a University or any higher education institution subject to the Faculty/Institute's regulations and recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or have accreditation recognized by foreign Accreditation Bodies; or Other qualifications recognized by the Senate obtained through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL); or Fulfill other requirements specified by the program (if applicable); and Fulfill the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). |
English Requirement | 1. International candidates are required to meet the English language proficiency requirements as follows: a) Obtain a TOEFL score of 550, IELTS band score of 6, or MUET band score of 4, which meet the minimum score or band requirements specified by the program; or b) For certain programs, candidates are required to take the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if they fail to achieve the level specified by the program, candidates are required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) within a maximum period of two (2) semesters before they are allowed to register for the study program. Candidates shall register as Non-Graduate Students. The Faculty/Institute may grant exemptions to the requirements specified in subregulation (1) for international candidates who: a) will write their thesis/dissertation in Malay/Arabic; b) have academic qualifications obtained from any local university recognized by the Senate; or c) come from a country where English is the official language or the candidate has academic qualifications obtained from any higher education institution that uses English as the medium of instruction. Candidates may be exempted from the requirements stated in subregulation (2), but candidates must still take the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if the candidate fails to obtain the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM). |
