Description | PhD programmes offered by Faculty of Medicine UKM are classified as research mode. The programmes are conducted primarily through research works under supervision of academic faculty members to produce a full thesis at the end of the study. English Requirement | (a) International students shall fulfil the English language requirements by obtaining a minimum score of 5.5 for IELTS or the equivalent of any examination that has been aligned to The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as approved by the Senate. (b) An international student who fails to meet the English language competency requirements may be given a conditional offer as follows: i. Students are allowed to attend an internal English Preparatory Course at the University with a time limit of a maximum of two (2) years and subject to the regulations of the Malaysian Immigration Department in force; and ii. International students pursuing an internal English Preparatory Course must sit for the IELTS or TOEFL, or MUET examinations or any CEFR-aligned examination to meet the English language competency requirements. (c)The list of examinations that has been aligned to the CEFR is subject to the list approved by the Senate and continuously updated. (d)The Faculty/Institute may grant exemptions to the conditions stated in sub regulations 5(1) and 5(2) to: i. International students originating from countries that use English as the official language; or (ii. International students who use academic qualifications from institutions that use English as the medium of instruction and intend to pursue higher studies at the University |
