Description | The postgraduate program at IKMAS emphasizes social science research, focusing on various fields, particularly economics, sociology, political science, law, and culture. The program is dedicated to Malaysian and International Studies within an inter-regional framework, inclusive relations, and development. The core of this program enhances graduates' understanding of historical and contemporary transformations, taking into account the significance of Malaysian society. Our approach to Malaysian Studies is multidisciplinary, and its context is Malaysia in the global world and the processes and impacts of its interactions with the outside world. Our graduates will understand the processes of social inequality, such as economic differentiation and competition, as well as the processes affecting class, ethics, gender, politics, and identity. International Studies, on the other hand, focuses on the various dimensions of globalization and occidentalism as they impact international and regional societies worldwide. IKMAS graduates will understand societies, regions, and states – taken as case studies – not only within the framework of new area studies but also how these societies, regions, and states are influenced by the various dimensions of globalization. The responses of these societies and states to globalization phenomena and processes are also studied, and a comparative approach is applied to understand inter-regional dynamics. |
