Description The Institute of Visual Informatics (IVI) was established with the objective of integrating multidisciplinary fields encompassing areas such as virtual reality, haptic computing, computer graphics, computer vision, visualization and simulation, mathematical visualization, and real image processing. In line with the above objectives, IVI has designed four focused research areas, namely: virtual technology, visualization and simulation, real image processing, and social computing. IVI offers master's programs by research and doctoral programs in the field of Visual Informatics.

Entry Requirements Candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy program must possess the following qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or other universities approved by the Senate with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.0; or  
Other qualifications or experience supported by the Postgraduate Committee and/or approved by the Senate; or
Currently enrolled in the Master of Science (Visual Informatics) program from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and supported by the Institute's Postgraduate Committee to convert to the Doctor of Philosophy program, approved by the Senate.
English Requirement 1. International students are required to meet the following English Language requirements (subject to changes from the Graduate Center):
(a) A score of not less than 550 in TOEFL or not less than 5.5 in IELTS for specific programs.
(b) Candidates are required to take the English Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) and if candidates do not achieve the level set by the program, candidates are required to take and pass the English Language Skills Module (MKBI) within a maximum period of two semesters before being allowed to enroll in the program. Candidates will be registered as "Non-Credential Students".

International students who possess academic qualifications obtained from any local university approved by the Senate will be exempted from requirement 1(a) but are required to take the English Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) and if they do not obtain the level set by the program, candidates are required to take and pass the English Language Skills Module (MKBI).  

Faculties/Institutes may grant exemptions from English Language requirements for local and international students from countries with English as an official language or who possess academic qualifications obtained from institutions that use English as the medium of instruction.
